Laura Bamber trained in Jewellery Design at Central Saint Martins where she gained a first class honours. Working for companies such as Vivienne Westwood and Erickson Beamon, she has now moved on to do her own work, and has exhibited at shows including London Jewellery Week, IJL, Collections and New Designers. Last year she was a winner of the bright young gems competition, selected by a panel including Hillary Alexander and Carol Wooton. Her work has since then featured in the Telegraph, Fashion156.com, as well as Androgyny and REfresh magazines. Laura has always been drawn to the theatrical, large-scale side of jewellery and accessories, and has enjoyed the challenge of modifying furniture for this competition.

About the design
My design plays with the idea of the ostentatious and decadent furniture of the baroque period, but with a modern twist. Focusing on detail and flamboyancy, it is essentially a caged cake stand, and would be best suited to a Marie Antoinette-type character with a sweet tooth.
